The process

The transformation of clay into a beautiful and unique product happens here by our skilled potters, artisans and painters. Each piece passes through the hands of skilled craftsmen, some of whom have been with us for over two decades. Our principles of timeless design along with an emphasis on quality, help us create products that last a lifetime.

We use high-quality ingredients and develop our own glazes, to design and create our products, which are unique to us. We use a mix of traditional and modern tools and equipments from the old-fashioned potter’s wheel to slip casting and other presses, to achieve the best results in design and production of the products.

THE PROCESS

MOULDING & CASTING

Our equipment is a mix of traditional and modern tools. New shapes are developed on the thrower’s wheel or slab roller. From there, production techniques include slip casting, and other presses. Unused clay from production is recycled and made into slip or milled.

PRODUCTION

Each piece passes through the hands of skilled craftsmen, some of whom have been with us for over two decades. Our principles of timeless design along with an emphasis on quality, ensure that your product will last a lifetime.

GLAZING AND FINISHING

We design and develop all glazes on site. Owning our own glazes and materials allows us flexibility of design. Each piece of pottery is glazed by hand, allowing for slight variations and idiosyncrasies that make our pottery truly unique. Some of our pieces are also hand-painted by our painters with a lot of detailing and love.

HIGH TEMPERATURE FIRING

We use a stoneware clay body that is twice fired for added strength. We bisque fire and gloss fire at 1100 celsius, resulting in fully vitrified pieces that will not absorb any moisture. The hand-painted and coloured pieces are usually fired at 850 celsius in an electric furnace-giving the products a unique effect and texture.
